The CDC eviction moratorium by itself will devastate the apartment industry and does nothing to protect apartment communities and the 17.5 million jobs supported by our industry! It looks like the concept of Rental Assistance at the national level is gaining some momentum. We need our members to be loud!

Good afternoon! Late yesterday afternoon news broke that Congressional leaders are preparing another COVID-19 relief bill that could be voted on next week. Additionally, several Hill offices have indicated to NAA that they are hearing loud and clear from housing providers about the onerous CDC eviction moratorium and the need for rental assistance. The message of the apartment industry is getting through, but we need to keep it up. We need YOUR voice!

Please tell Congress to include a robust rental assistance program in any future COVID relief bill! The CDC eviction moratorium by itself will devastate the apartment industry and does nothing to protect apartment communities and the 17.5 million jobs supported by our industry!

An eviction moratorium may keep residents in their homes in the short term, but it will just put them months behind in their payments that they will struggle to ever make up. And, months of rental defaults will cripple our industry’s ability to protect our communities, pay our employees and meet our own financial obligations. Already, we are seeing smaller independent owners drain their reserves to keep their businesses afloat while some residents have been unable or unwilling to pay.

Please contact your members of Congress TODAY before it’s too late and tell them to pass emergency rental assistance and not eviction moratoriums!
