The Greater Columbus Apartment Association (GCAA) is a trade organization for companies that own and/or manage apartments and the businesses that provide products or services to the industry, we are not a regulatory agency. We do not own or manage any apartments, but rather provide education classes and legislative guidance to our members who are in the multi-housing industry. We cannot give out information to residents about problems with a particular community, or a specific issue as that is not the function of our organization.

We encourage you to speak to the management company for your community about any problems you are having. If you need legal help, we encourage you to check with an attorney or look for legal resources in your area that can assist you.

I am a resident at an apartment community. Can you help me with an issue/complaint and can you give me a copy of my lease?
The Greater Columbus Apartment Association is a trade organization for companies that own and manage apartment communities and affiliated companies that provide products or services to the apartment industry. We are unable to answer questions from residents or respond to any inquiries. If you are having a legal issue, we recommend you contact an attorney who specializes in landlord-tenant law in Georgia. While you are entitled to a copy of your lease, we do not have copies, and you will need to ask your apartment community for a copy if you did not receive one when you signed it originally.

What is the Greater Columbus Apartment Association (GCAA) and what do you do?
The GCAA is a trade association founded in 1985 to represent the multifamily housing industry in the Columbus area representing professionals in the multifamily rental industry. The membership includes apartment property owners, management companies, independent rental property owners (less than 100 units), developers and suppliers to the industry. Our focus is legislation, education and communication for the industry.

Are all apartment communities in Columbus required to be members of GCAA?
GCAA membership is voluntary. Apartment communities are affiliated through the membership of their owner/manager. Most professionally managed apartment homes in Columbus and surrounding counties are currently members as they are dedicated to quality rental housing.

How do I join the GCAA? Who can be a member?
Membership in the Greater Columbus Apartment Association is open to companies that own, manage or develop multifamily rental housing, as well as those businesses that provide products and/or services to the industry. You can use the "How to Join" link under the membership menu to learn more about the benefits of becoming a member of the GCAA. All of our memberships are company based, and you can join online or by printing out a copy of the application and submitting it with payment to the GCAA office. 

I'm a member, but want to become more involved. How do I do that?
The best way to make the most of your membership is to become involved. If you are a first time volunteer, the Membership Committee is the training ground for future service in other committees. If you are interested in participating on the Membership Committee, go to the Leaership tab and join a committee. In addition to serving on a committee, the GCAA offers many events throughout the year that are outstanding opportunities to network with your fellow GCAA members. Make sure to check the calendar of events regularly to see what is coming up.

How many members belong to the GCAA?
The GCAA currently has around 110 member companies made up of 40 apartment Owner/Management companies, and around 60 Associate members who provide some type of product or service to the multihousing industry. Our Owner/Manager members have around 16,000+ apartment homes registered with us under their membership spread across 20 counties in the Greater Columbus Area, includeing West Point, LaGrange, Albany, Americus, Georgetown, Manchester & Warm Springs.
